What it is
Kakaskasen 2 Digital Encyclopedia is a digital village profile platform created to reintroduce and rebrand Kakaskasen 2, Tomohon, North Sulawesi, as a flower-supplying village. More than a conventional village website, this project transforms local identity, culture, and potential into an immersive digital storytelling experience through cinematic visuals and modern interaction design.
Problem it solves
Most village profile websites focus only on delivering information, often lacking emotional connection and strong visual identity. This project reimagines how a village can present itself digitally—turning static information into an engaging experience that strengthens Kakaskasen 2’s image as a flower village while making its story more memorable and accessible.
How it works
Built with Next.js 16 and Tailwind CSS 4, the platform combines minimalist design principles with visual storytelling to create a seamless exploration experience. The project was initially envisioned to evolve into an interactive digital encyclopedia with AI-powered assistance (ChatGPT integration), enabling visitors to discover village information in a more dynamic and conversational way.
Challenges
One of the biggest challenges was balancing ambition with available resources. The project was initially planned to include an interactive encyclopedia and AI chatbot integration to deepen user exploration. However, due to funding limitations, development was only realized up to the early implementation stage, leaving several planned features as part of the project’s future vision.
